Whether you’re visiting for the weekend, or you’re a permanent resident of Mississauga there’s lots of activities to do and see. You might think you have to go into Toronto to really do anything fun but that is just not the case. Here’s the top 5 place to visit while you’re here.

Benares Historic House

This place is the best to visit around the Christmas holidays, but it isn’t exclusively a Christmas venue. Located at 1507 Clarkson Rd N in Mississauga, this mansion is home to over 160 years of local history. Four generations of families have called this estate home, and it is stacked from top to bottom with the original possessions of the Sayers and Harris families. In 1995, it was completely restored and opened to the public as a museum. While walking through the museum you will be greeted with exhibitions and displays of the original families’ life so you can really experience how they lived. If the weather is pleasant, you can walk the grounds and enjoy a picnic or hot chocolate if the weather is chilly. This is a unique piece of history located right in our backyard.

Port Credit Memorial Park

Found at 40 Lakeshore Rd E in Mississauga, there is always something fun happening in this park. All summer long there’s events for you and your family to partake in, including a summer concern series. If a calendar of events isn’t really your thing, there’s lots you can do on your own time too. Bring the family for a picnic, and curl up with a good book for the afternoon. You can bring your dog for a long walk along the trails and enjoy the natural setting. This park is a great park of the Mississauga community, and there’s so much to enjoy here.

Rattray Marsh Conservation Area

Slightly different than just a park is this conservation area. There’s walking trails, bird watching lookouts and some unique opportunities for capturing beautiful photographs. If you enjoy the outdoors, all year round, then this is the perfect spot for you and it can be found at 50 Bexhill Road in Mississauga. You can bring your dog for a nice long walk, and take in the beauty of nature right in the middle of the city. This is definitely a sight to take in over and over again.

Square One Shopping Centre

This mall is located at 100 City Centre Drive, and has a wonderful variety of stores to fulfill all of your shopping desires. From athletic stores to display cases full of sparkly jewelry this mall will have something for everyone you bring with you. If you’re tired of shopping, you can gather everyone up and stop for something to eat while you’re here. When the weather isn’t favorable, this is still an venue you can enjoy and spend hours at.

Streetsville

Located in central Mississauga, this is a little village right in the middle of the big city. It’s quaint and welcoming, just a few blocks away from Mississauga’s main city hall. One of the biggest events in this village is the Mississauga Santa Claus Parade that goes down right down main street every November. While you’re here you can check out the small shops they have, and you’ll truly forget you’re in the middle of a big city.
