Egyptian Museum Mississauga

If you live in the Greater Toronto Area, there’s a good chance that at some point you’ve visited the Egyptian collection at the Royal Ontario Museum. Located in downtown Mississauga, this museum houses more than 17,000 artifacts from ancient Egypt and the culture of ancient Egypt. It’s one of only a few institutions worldwide with this much ancient Egyptian cultural material in one location. Some of the items in the Egyptian Collection are not on display, so you’ll need to bring your own camera to take photos of them. Most of the items in the collection are fragile and should be treated with care. And if you plan to take photos, you should be careful as some of the items are sacred and/or priceless. You’ll also need to bring your own bags to take home anything you purchase or simply can’t fit in your suitcase. The Egyptian Collection is located in the Asian Art Gallery of the Royal Ontario Museum. The gallery is located on the fourth floor of the ROM and admission is free.
